The former Salvation Army building located two blocks from the historic boardwalk in Asbury Park has sat dormant for many years. In the spring of 2016, the circa 1940s building will be reintroduced as a 110-key bou- tique hotel giving Jersey Shore-goers myriad reasons to turn daytrips into weekenders. Amenities abound from a multi-use indoor/outdoor event space, a dramatic outdoor rooftop bar dubbed Salvation, and The Baronet, a rooftop garden inspired by the Great Lawn in New York’s Central Park with views of the city and sea. Great care is going into preserving and restoring the original seven- story brick building, says Al Best, Managing Partner, Construction Pros of NJ, contractors on the project. “There are so many nuisances when you are doing an existing building,” says Best.“It doesn’t work like new construction.” The Asbury is part of real estate developer and investor iStar’s multi- billion dollar redevelopment of the Asbury Park waterfront district. Best says, “It’s an honor to play a role in the Renaissance of this iconic Jersey Shore town.” BOUTIQUE HOTEL FIRST TO OPEN IN ICONIC JERSEY SHORE TOWN IN HALF-CENTURY “IT’S AN HONOR TO PLAY A ROLE IN THE RENAISSANCE OF THIS ICONIC JERSEY SHORE TOWN.” 5
