“You can’t be what you can’t see,” said Marian Wright Edelman, advocate for disadvantaged American families and founder of the Children’s Defense Fund.

These words are now commonly echoed by women as they seek to break ground in all sectors of life, from politics to science to business.

What is your role at Construction Pros?
Executive Vice President

Why did you get involved in construction?
I was originally in the fashion business. I saw potential in construction when I started helping out my brother, Brian, part time with management and finance. In the blink of an eye, I was working full time in construction!

What are some of the challenges you face as a woman in a predominantly male field?
As a woman in this field, you have to prove yourself every day. You have to know the full subject. I have learned to speak up for myself and my advice is simple… if you are uncomfortable with something, voice your opinion. Do not be afraid that the office is male-dominated—you work hard and have every right to speak up. Stand up for yourself and demand respect (in a professional way, of course).

What advice would you give to young women considering a field in construction?
To be persistent, have a strong personality and SPEAK UP, SPEAK UP, SPEAK UP FOR YOURSELF!

What are your interests (hobbies) outside of work?
To read, shop and to travel!
